One of the best things about living in London is that you’re never more than a few minutes away from an incredible meal—and if you’re plant-based, the options are world-class. Forget boring salads; we’re talking about Korean-Italian fusion, spicy Sichuan feasts, and Middle Eastern comfort food.
Whether you’re a lifelong vegan or just looking for a “Meat-Free Monday” treat, here are five of my absolute favourite spots for a delicious London lunch.
1. VeganYes (Shoreditch)
Located in the heart of Brick Lane, VeganYes is unlike anywhere else in the city. It’s a family-run spot where Chef Mauro fuses his Italian heritage with his wife’s Korean roots. The result? Mind-blowing dishes like Toppognocchi (a mix of Korean rice sticks and Italian gnocchi) and their famous Kimchi Burger. Everything is made without refined sugars or heated oils, so you leave feeling energized rather than sluggish.
2. Troy’s Groceries / Troy Mediterranean (Hoxton/Hackney)
For a casual, authentic vibe, I love heading to Troy. Their lunch menu is incredibly affordable and features some of the best Falafel and Halloumi in East London. It’s the kind of place where you get a massive plate of grilled veggies, rice, and fresh salad that tastes like a home-cooked meal.
3. Mallow (Borough Market)
If you want something a bit more “refined” but still totally relaxed, Mallow is the answer. Tucked away in Borough Market, this 100% plant-based restaurant comes from the team behind the iconic Mildreds. The menu is seasonal and globally inspired, using ingredients sourced right from the market traders outside their door. The interiors are stunning, making it a perfect spot for a long, “treat yourself” lunch.
4. TofuVegan (Various Locations)
Don’t let the name fool you—even my most dedicated meat-eating friends crave this place. TofuVegan specializes in regional Chinese cuisine (Sichuan, Cantonese, and Dongbei) that just happens to be entirely vegan. The flavours are bold, spicy, and deeply satisfying. Their “mock meats” are some of the best in the world, but their vegetable-forward dishes, like the Fish-Fragrant Aubergine, are the real stars.
5. Logma (Haggerston)
Logma is a beautiful Iranian-Iraqi café on Goldsmith’s Row that grew out of a popular supper club. It feels like stepping into someone’s living room. The menu changes regularly but always focuses on Middle Eastern comfort food. Their lunch offering usually includes incredible sourdough pita sandwiches and slow-cooked stews served with fragrant saffron rice. It’s the ultimate neighborhood gem. Whilst not completely vegetarian, it’s worth the visit for their vegetarian options!
