The capital has a wealth of free hangout spots that offer just as much charm and excitement as their pricier counterparts. I am thinking beyond the massive parks of London – and more just cool places to chill with friends or on a date after work.
- South Bank: Take a stroll along the South Bank, where you’ll find street performers, art installations, and stunning views of the Thames. There are a few public tables here up by the South Bank Centre, where you can take your own food and drink. I love this spot due to both how central it is and the views of the Thames. In front of Wahaca, there seems to be some good spots for chilling.
- Kings Cross and along the canal: Explore the newly revitalized area around King’s Cross and take a stroll along the Regent’s Canal. The towpath offers a peaceful escape from the city buzz, with interesting architecture and narrowboats to admire.
- Soho Square: Nestled in the heart of Soho, this small but perfectly formed park provides a welcome respite from the bustling streets. It’s a great place to people-watch and soak up the vibrant Soho vibe.
- Potters Fields Park: Situated by Tower Bridge, this park offers stunning views of the iconic landmark and the Thames. It’s a great spot for a relaxing picnic or simply enjoying the riverside atmosphere.
- Lincoln’s Inn Fields: London’s largest square, Lincoln’s Inn Fields offers a tranquil escape with its expansive lawns, mature trees, and historic surroundings. Perfect for a relaxing stroll or a picnic lunch.
